In addition to these offerings, your Mason school/college or department may offer unique alumni services for their graduates. Contact your Mason school/college to see what alumni services they offer.
Identify your interests and skills with a career counselor or receive career assistance focused on your selected industry with an industry advisor.
For alumni who graduated more than six months ago, individual appointments are $45/hr and are limited to three sessions. Please note that we can only accept payment in the form of cash or a check. Make an appointment.
Fees begin on the following dates:
- May graduates: December 1
- August graduates: March 1
- January graduates: July 1
Every fall and spring semester, University Career Services hosts a two-day, multi-industry fair for current students and alum. View dates and details, including preparation tips.
Attend workshops on career topics such as interviewing and salary negotiation or come by for a panel facilitated by area employers and other alumni. See our Calendar of Events.

Each fall and spring semester, we offer a monthly mock interview day with employers to sharpen your skills. See dates.
Interview right on campus with employers looking specifically for Mason alumni via our On-Campus Interviewing Program.
As part of the career exploration process, we offer formal assessment of personality, skills, and interests via the Strong Interest Inventory, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and the SkillScan Career Driver.
All assessments require an appointment, include a one-hour interpretation session with a career counselor, and incur these fees:
- Recent alumni (graduated within the past 6 months): $15
- Alumni (graduated more than six months): $50 each or $75 for two
Alumni Association: Once a Patriot, always a Patriot!
Connect with the Alumni Association to get involved with the greater alumni community or with a specific chapter or club and to stay up to date on events and activities for alumni.

The Career Connections Alumni
alumni efforts to assist students with career planning, experiential learning,
preparation for the job search, and pursuit of employment opportunities and is awarded each year.
Give back to the newest generation of Mason students via Career Link, our alumni-student connection tool. Share your industry experience, career path advice, and job search expertise with students by registering in Career Link. Once in the database, students will be able to search for you by their professional interests and reach out to you with career questions and requests such as:
- Informational interviews
- Job shadowing
- Phone or email conversations
- Resume critiques
University Career Services uses Career Link as a resource to fill volunteering opportunities such as facilitating workshops and serving as a career panelist.
Career Link also serves as a networking tool for you to connect with other alumni as you too can search the database for other professionals.

Take a Patriot to Work Day is a one day job shadowing program hosted by University Career Services. As an employer host, one or more current Mason students will "shadow" or follow you during the work day so they can get a realistic, behind-the-scenes perspective of a particular career. To participate you must be currently employed in the Northern Virginia/DC/MD area and be able to provide a Mason student with a safe and educational experience. Learn more.
CareerShift is an online resource designed to support the #1 request of job seekers: an easy-to-use website to conduct and organize a job search. While other web services provide bits and pieces of the job hunt process, CareerShift provides an all-in-one resource to crack the “hidden job market.” With CareerShift, you can:
- Search job listings from all public websites, company websites, and newspapers
- Get the contact information of employees and alumni from millions of companies
- Upload as many targeted resumes and cover letters as you like
HireMason is a free job search engine exclusive to the Mason community. Log in using your PatriotPass credentials. If you cannot access HireMason, call our office at (703) 993-2370. The process to grant you access to your account may take up to 10 business days.
If you are looking for international opportunities, use Passport Career to find jobs and internships in over 75 countries across the globe including the United States. Mason alumni can access Passport Career by selecting "Have a Registration Key?" on the upper right corner of the homepage and entering gmuniver as the registration key.
