Ways Members Help
What is expected of Career Network Volunteers?

Volunteers can help by participating in informational interviews, providing a shadowing experience at their place of employment or serving as a speaker in the classroom or in a panel discussion. Ways Career Network Members Help Students and Alumni.

How will I be contacted?

A volunteer can request to be contacted in one (or a combination) of the following ways: email, phone or US mail (home or work).

How often will I be contacted?

There is no guarantee about the number of times a volunteer will be contacted. On average, Career Network members are contacted two or three times a year. Just because you aren't contacted though, doesn't mean your information in the system isn't valuable. Many students and alumni browse the network to see what kind of work and employment options are available for various degrees and majors. They might not feel comfortable calling or emailing you, but they do want to know what you are doing with your Mason degree!

What kind of information will I be asked?

The information needs vary with each student. Some students are interested in learning about what kinds of careers fit their major. Other students think they know what career they want to pursue, but want to find out more information about the field or the kinds of organizations for which they could work. Still others are interested in your perspective on effective ways to hunt for jobs in their field of interest.

How is my contact information protected?

Your name and only the specific ways you wish to be contacted will be shown on the "Contact Information Screen". Furthermore, only Mason students and alumni are given the password to access this information.
