He and his wife served as Peace Corps Volunteers in the Philippines from 2009 to 2011. Scott was assigned to the Children, Youth and Family sector, working with Children in Conflict with the Law at a government-run juvenile rehabilitation center. During service, Scott developed and conducted trainings, designed programs for his center, and helped the boys at his site form a rock band that performed at the Peace Corps 50th Anniversary Celebration in Manila.

Prior to joining the Wolf Trap Foundation in her first full-time position as Program Assistant, Education Outreach in January 2010, Mrs. Bechtold interned in the Program and Production department at Wolf Trap advancing hospitality for all artists and providing coverage for shows at the Filene Center. She has been in her current role as Assistant Director, Internships and Community Programs since May 2013.
